Bev Adams
Bev Adams was born in 1956 and resides in Rusagonis. Bev has been an administrator with Softball New Brunswick beginning at the grassroots level in 1991. Through her determined leadership and volunteerism, softball has grown in NB with the creation of minor associations, school and development programs, and championship tournaments. This led to Bev’s election as President of Softball New Brunswick from 2005 to 2017. Bev’s years of dedication garnered the attention of various organizations and resulted in her being recognized, awarded, and inducted into the Softball New Brunswick Hall of Fame in 2017.
Leah D. Sabourin
Leah Sabourin was born in Tabusintac, NB in 1952 and was a resident of Oromocto from 1975-2003. Leah selflessly volunteered her time for over 40 years in various sports at the local, provincial, and national levels. Leah was an integral part of both the NBLGA and Golf NB organizations. Starting as a Course Rater and travelling the province she later dedicated her efforts with assisting Golf NB’s annual awards dinner, junior golf, and acted as a chaperone for the NB Junior Girls Golf Team. Leah, along with her husband Dick, displayed exceptional support leadership and assistance at many golf and hockey events. Leah’s commitment was invaluable at various CARHA Hockey events across Canada, the United States, and Europe.
Richard “Dick” Sabourin
Richard “Dick” Sabourin was a resident of Oromocto from 1975-2003 and has been a proud supporter of sport for over 40 years. Dick has demonstrated a passion for both hockey and golf serving as administrator for CARHA for over 42 years, serving on executive committees for both the Gage Golf and Curling Club, and Golf NB primarily with junior golfers. Dick was an integral part of the merger of NBGA and NBLGA to create the now formed Golf NB. Dick has been a constant pillar and tremendous resource for the CARHA and was recognized with Dick’s induction in CARHA’s Hockey Hall of Fame in the Builder category in 2003. The associations Dick, along with his wife Leah, passionately supported are grateful for their leadership and assistance.
Jeremy Mark Tracy
Jeremy Tracy was born in Fredericton in 1976 and resides in Waterville. Jeremy’s talent in softball showed early, winning his first provincial competition in 1987 at the squirt level. Jeremy continued to chase his dream playing softball across North America, all while raising a family, working, and continuing to play ball with his childhood friends. Jeremy was a key player on all the teams he played for as evidenced by his team championships and individual accolades like Top Pitcher at the ISC II Championship in 2007 and NSA World Series MVP in 2006 and 2007. Jeremy’s past accomplishments have left an impact on softball in New Brunswick and he continues to make an impression by giving back to the sport by coaching his daughters.
Sarah Dee (White) Wells
Sarah Dee (White) Wells called Rusagonis home while growing up. In 1997, Sarah discovered her love of riding and began taking lessons at Geary Hill Stables. Sarah acquired her first pony, Allister, in 2001. The pair went on to compete together for 4 years, winning championships at the Provincial, Atlantic, and Maritime levels in Hunter, Arabian, and Dressage events. In the late spring of 2007, Allister was injured in training. In 2010, Sarah moved Allister from a boarding facility to her own property to care for her partner. Sarah has continued developing a new horse and coaching, while Allister is teaching Sarah’s son to love horses and ride like his mother.
Hoyt Schooners Team 2 1977-1980
From 1977 to 1980, the Hoyt Schooners Team 2 were a common sight on the podium commonly finishing in the top 3 over those years. The Hoyt Schooners achieved a successful record in the New Brunswick Provincials over the four years with Silver in 1977 and 1979 and Gold in 1978. In 1980, the team was a dominate force winning Silver in the 32 Team Maritime PEI tournament and a Gold medal that same year at the NB Provincials. The Hoyt Schooners then played host to the Eastern Canadian Intermediate “B” Mens Championship Tournament. During this tournament, the Hoyt Schooners finished the round robin with a perfect 3-0 record over 2nd place Nova Scotia’s 2-1. Despite the inclement weather affecting the playoff round, the Hoyt Schooners came out on top to capture the gold medal.
